The CNID Investment Challenge (the “Challenge”) is an annual competition sponsored by the CN Investment Division (“CNID”) that provides undergraduate and graduate students with a real-world opportunity to develop their skills as investment analysts covering high-quality companies and private assets.
The Challenge is operated through this website, www.cnidinvestmentchallenge.com, (the “Website”). CNID is committed to respecting and protecting personal information in accordance with applicable privacy laws and regulations, including Canada’s Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).
We collect and process your personal information based on your consent or where necessary for the administration of the Challenge, compliance with a legal obligation, or for legitimate interests recognized by law.

Data Retention
We retain personal information only for the period necessary to fulfill the purposes for which it was collected, including Challenge administration, compliance with our legal obligations, and evaluation as part of the Challenge. Information relating to selected individuals may be retained for the duration of any internship and subsequent employment relationship. When personal information is no longer required, it is securely destroyed or anonymized.
Disclosure of Personal Information
We may disclose personal information to Canadian National Railway Company (“CN”) or employees from CNID such as:

investment professionals who serve as mentors and evaluators;

individuals that coordinate the structure, operation, and administration of the Challenge;

and the human resources team.
We may also disclose personal information to regulatory authorities where required by law. Service providers are contractually required to protect personal information in accordance with applicable privacy laws. CNID does not sell personal information.
Where personal information is processed or stored using third-party service providers located outside Canada, CNID takes reasonable measures to ensure that such providers maintain privacy protection standards equivalent to those in force in Canada.
Information Security
CNID has implemented appropriate technical and organizational measures to ensure a level of security appropriate to the sensitivity of personal information and maintains policies and procedures designed to identify and respond to confidentiality incidents. If an incident presents a risk of serious harm, CNID will notify affected individuals and the Commission d’accès à l’information du Québec, as required by law.
